This is not some roll of the dice

Last week I sent you a piece entitled “The bullshit never sleeps”. It hasn’t. Here are a few of the lies told by the ‘great and the good’ this past week.

On Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House for a photo-op with Donald Trump during the signing of his ‘The Golan is Israel’ proclamation. This has not been backed by any of the other G7 nations, and has been rejected by the United Nations. However, as should have become obvious to everyone by now, the media and the Democrats only attack Trump’s foreign policy when he does something that might lead to an outbreak of peace…like talking to Russia or North Korea…when it comes to bombing, regime change, or land theft, they either can’t get enough of it, or they remain eerily non-committal.

On Tuesday, John Bolton was at work attacking Russia and Venezuela in a ‘two for the price of one’ message. Here he neglects to mention that Russia is ALREADY providing aid to Venezuela, and chooses to attack Russia’s decision to send a small contingent of its military to Caracas in response to a request from Maduro:

On Wednesday Trump was asked about the situation in Venezuela. His reply was ‘Russia has to get out’. The simple truth of course, is that it doesn’t HAVE to do anything. Whilst this may seem like semantics, it isn’t…the attitude being expressed in that statement is the cause of trouble all round the world. It’s also something that a geo-politically illiterate president is bound to say when he surrounds himself with neocons:

On Thursday, Bolton was at it again…this time using Twitter to encourage a Senior Venezuelan General to back Washington’s coup. So I wrote to the General myself, offering him a different perspective. My view won’t make any difference…unless of course it does…pebbles in the pond and all that. I also happen to be telling the truth - two thirds of the nations that make up the UN, and probably 80% of the world’s population, don’t approve of Washington’s wars, or its constant meddling:

On Friday I read an article by Eva Bartlett, an independent Canadian reporter and anti-war activist who has spent years on the ground reporting from both the Gaza Strip and Syria. A week or so ago she travelled to Caracas to see this ‘humanitarian crisis’ for herself. I recommend you read her report:

Today is Saturday, although it now appears to be Sunday, and I seem to have lost an hour somewhere. I’ll leave you with the thought that none of this ceaseless warmongering is ‘random’, or indeed in response to “events, dear boy, events”. The wars we see around the world, the warmongering we get from Washington whoever is in the White House, are not some roll of the dice:

If you don’t know who some of these people are, google “Project for a New American Century”.

Anyway, I’m off to bed. Tomorrow, which is now today, I’m going to the dunes & the beach. The wind, the sand, and my beautiful dog are infinitely more ‘real’, more ‘honest’ and more enlivening to focus on than any of the little shits I’ve been writing about here. It’s important to remember that. Otherwise…why the hell would any of us bother? That’s rhetorical…but have a lovely Sunday…:-)
