The police should not be a profit centre

In response to an FT article by Helen Warrell on 21st May 2015, entitled 'David Cameron to announce crackdown on illegal immigrant labour'

On the same day as Ms May advises the police to stop 'crying Wolf' about lack of funding, Mr Cameron says he's giving police the power to seize cash.

We seem to be following the US model of turning the police into a profit centre. Personally, that's not the sort of police force I wish for.  I prefer officers of the law to be public spirited and 'targeted' on helping the community by responding to what's happening 'now'...not drawing up monthly plans of how they can hit their revenue targets.
