It’s very considerate of the BBC to create their new fact-checking service ‘Verify’, with the inclusion of “our disinformation correspondent Marianna Spring” …whose purpose is to highlight ‘conspiracy theories’ and ‘conspiracy theorists’. Her strap-line is ‘Marianna in Conspiracyland’.
Leaving aside the abuse of Lewis Carroll, this is particularly helpful because it brings the media’s hypocrisy centre stage, where even the somnambulistically afflicted may bump into it.
So, it’s a good time to reflect on this. First of all, let’s reiterate the glaringly obvious:
Governments have ‘agendas’ they don’t want you to know about…duh…so they keep them secret and invent spurious reasons to explain those activities which can’t be hidden
Maintaining the secret, and peddling the lies, takes a concerted effort from a variety of people
A specific agenda, held in secret, pursued by two or more people, is a ‘conspiracy’…again duh…
Given the enormous power of governments, and the fact they rarely, if ever, admit to their lies…you inevitably need a ‘theory’ to approach the truth that they are concealing
If you are not in any way, shape or form, a ‘conspiracy theorist’…what the fook is wrong with you my dear…rhetorical
Now let’s recall a few of these ‘conspiracy theories’:
Those of you who remember the legendary Bamber Gascoigne will know what I mean when I say that this list is a ‘Starter for Ten’. There are far more we could add…but it’ll do for now.
Finally, the media's other term of abuse for those of us who call them on their garbage is 'far right'.
But like so much of their horseshit, there’s an element of truth here…as one wag on the interwebs put it: so far, right about everything.
And yes, the November 2020 US Presidential election was fraudulent...the truth will not be cancelled forever.
