“A top Hillary Clinton adviser lamented that the Democratic candidate’s instincts could be “terrible” in leaked emails that reinforce perceptions of weaknesses that continue to dog the nominee’s campaign.
Although Mrs Clinton has a comfortable lead over Donald Trump with less than two weeks until election day, the latest emails from WikiLeaks underscore concerns over her decision-making and honesty that have hindered her popularity.
“Almost no one knows better than me that her instincts can be terrible,” wrote Neera Tanden, a close Clinton confidante, as she and the Clinton campaign’s chairman grappled with her use of a private email server and reluctance to apologise for it.
John Podesta, the campaign chairman, wrote: “We’ve taken on a lot of water that won’t be easy to pump out of the boat. Most of that has to do with terrible decisions made pre-campaign, but a lot has to do with her instincts.” – Barney Jopson
There are emails emerging that are far more disturbing than this, or would be if the media would do its job.
For example, there is an email from March 7th from Cheryl Mills to John Podesta...which followed President Obama's claim on TV that he'd found out about her private server at the same time as everyone else...entitled: 'POTUS on HRC emails'. It contains the following:
- A forwarded message from Nick Merrill which said "Jen you probably have more on this but it looks like POTUS just said he found out HRC was using her personal email when he saw it in the news”
- A comment from Mills to Podesta that said "We need to clean this up - he has emails from her - they do not say state.gov"
Shortly after this her 'deleted emails' underwent the "bleachbit" treatment, putting them beyond the reach of the FBI or anyone else.
